ステレオラブのスタジオアルバム7作品が新たに2LPエディションとして〈Duophonic UHF Disks / Warp Records〉よりリイシュー!今回のリリースでは、2019年に拡張版としてリリースされたリマスター音源を使用。
さらに、オリジナルの1/2インチテープからボー・コンドレン(Calyx Mastering)がカッティングを担当し、ティム・ゲインが監修した高品質な仕上がりとなっている。各アルバムは5mm幅のシングルスリーブとプリント入りインナースリーブに収納され、保護用のPVC外袋付き仕様となっている。また、各アルバムとも数量限定の日本語巻き帯仕様のリリースも決定!

この『Sound-Dust』の最も驚くべきことは、ポップ・アルバムとしての完成度の高さである。ジョン・マッケンタイアとジム・オルークのプロデュースによって仕上げられた楽曲は、個別に聴いてみると、例えばドラムの音一つとってみても、その音色や音の響きの違いが感じ取れる。だが、それはあくまでも音作りの方向性であって、彼ら二人が共同作業をしていなかったにせよ、変化を厭わないゲイン、そしてバンドの思いを彼らは理解していたはずだ。それに加え、ロックからジャズ、ヒップホップ、テクノ、ドラムンベース、さらにはブラジル音楽やフレンチ・ポップ、ミニマル・ミュージック、ラウンジ・ミュージック、ブルー・アイド・ソウルに至るまで、ありとあらゆる音楽を並列化して聴いているような感覚を感じさせるゲインのソングライティングの才能--それはステレオラブの最大の強みでもある--を、前作をプロデュースしていた経験から感じ取れていたからこそ、マッケンタイアとオルークのプロデュース・ワークが冴え渡り、トータリティのあるこの『Sound-Dust』が完成したのである。(解説より一部抜粋)

How much is too much of a good thing? Depends where you stand on the thing to begin with. Such is the case with Stereolab. Detractors who were never moved by the groups sound to begin with will lament the fact that little new ground is broken on SOUND-DUST, especially after hints at new directions were dropped on 1999s COBRA PHASES album. Its true that this Gallic/British/American collective sticks to their usual blend of bubbling analog synthesizers, interlocking marimba and vibraphone ostinatos, odd-metered, cyclical rhythms, and Brigitte Bardot-with-a-Masters-Degree vocals. However, anyone whos attracted to the bands still-distinctive (despite leagues of imitators), retro-futuristic electro-lounge sound will be pleased that the group stood its ground, dispensing large dollops of frothy joy on their first official long-player of the 21st century theyve spent so much time foreshadowing. Besides, in the long view, the horn charts and sophisticated arrangements do show marked evolution from the groups Velvet Underground-reverent beginnings. To borrow the title of another British bands album, "enjoy the melodic sunshine."
