ニューイヤー・コンサート2025

新たな年を寿ぐ、ウィーン・フィルの華麗なワルツとポルカ。

毎年1月1日に行なわれるウィーン・フィルのニューイヤー・コンサート。クラシック音楽の中でも最も有名で、ウィーンの誇る黄金のムジークフェラインザールからTVとラジオを通じて世界90カ国以上に放送され、5千万人が視聴するというビッグ・イベント。1939年に始まる75年以上の歴史を誇るこのコンサートでは、音楽の都ウィーンを象徴するシュトラウス一家のワルツやポルカが演奏されます。

ヨハン・シュトラウス2世生誕200年アニバーサリーの劈頭を飾る2025年は名実ともにクラシック音楽界の世界的巨匠リッカルド・ムーティがコロナ禍無観客公演だった2021年以来4年ぶり7度目の登場。1971年以来50年以上にわたって共演を重ね気心知れた巨匠のもとでのニューイヤーは大きな期待が膨らみます。

演奏曲目は定番の「美しく青きドナウ」「ラデツキー行進曲」などに加えて、19世紀に活躍した女性作曲家コンスタンツェ・ガイガーのワルツが含まれています。

リッカルド・ムーティ
1941年、ナポリ生まれ。67年、カンテッリ国際指揮者コンクール優勝。フィレンツェ5月祭音楽祭、ニュー・フィルハーモニア管、フィラデルフィア管、ミラノ・スカラ座などのポストを歴任。2010年からシカゴ交響楽団音楽監督。ケルビーニ管を創設するなど若手の育成にも目を注ぐ。現代指揮者界のリーダー的存在。

Riccardo Muti is the contemporary champ for appearances at the Vienna Philharmonics New Years Concert with seven appearances; his total is exceeded only by those of longtime conductor Willi Boskovsky and the founder of the event, Clemens Krauss. Muti is an expert in giving the people what they want, and this time its a program made up almost exclusively of works by the Strauss family. Two things make it work. First, theres the fact that Muti has chosen some really gorgeous lesser-known works. The program of the New Years Concerts always proceeds from less to more familiar works, from Josef Strauss Dorfschwalben aus Osterreich waltz, Op. 164, with its magical opening, and the same Strauss Transaktionen Waltz, Op. 184, and even Johann Strauss IIs Entweder-Oder, polka schnell, Op. 403, are not common. Second is the presence of the very first female composer to appear on the New Years Concert program; the aristocratic Austrian Constanze Geiger has been somewhat overlooked in the wave of rediscovery of music by women, but her Ferdinandus Walzer, arranged for orchestra from a piano original, shows her to be a skilled tunesmith. Muti has lots of energy in the standards, and its nice to hear the New Years Address in Italian. A good time was had by all, and kudos to Sony Classical for getting this album on the streets by January 10, 2025, while New Years festivities were still lingering in the air. ~ James Manheim
