Released in 2024 as a bookend to Juana Molinas seventh album, Exhalo is an EP containing four songs recorded during the same sessions. As with the full-length Halo, Exhalo is nimble and pleasantly off-kilter, a continuation of the experimental tendencies that have marked the Argentinian artists entire career. Molina is a master of elasticity, building songs around disorienting loops but somehow finding memorable melodies to weave into their fabric. The first two tracks, "Astro de la luz segunda" and "Invierno," work in this mode, after which the singer opts for a more intimate tone on the acoustic "Vagos lagos." The final track, "Hope," is more ambient, a dreamy smear of treated guitars and vocals to close out this brief set. Exhalo works on its own or as a logical companion to its parent album, which was released in 2017. ~ Timothy Monger
