アメリカ出身の個性派女性シンガーソングライターでピアニストのトーリ・エイモス。「コーンフレーク・ガール(Cornflake Girl)」などのヒット曲を中心としたユニークなライヴ・パフォーマンスが収録されたニュー・アルバム『Diving Deep Live』が発売されます。2022年から2023年にかけて世界中で行われた「オーシャン・トゥ・オーシャン(Ocean To Ocean)」のツアー全93公演で録音されたものです。「ファンのお気に入り曲、B面、カヴァー曲などを散りばめた幅広いセットリストで有名」(『ガーディアン』紙)なエイモスは、長い間同じショーを二度と行わないことでも知られています。これらの録音で卓越したミュージシャンでパフォーマーであることが改めて証明されています。
トーリ・エイモスは『ミュージック・ウィーク』誌の2024年の「Women in Music」賞で「インスピレーショナル・アーティスト」賞を受賞しました。

Recorded along her 2022-2023 Ocean to Ocean tour, Diving Deep Live is a snapshot of a Tori Amos live show from the early 2020s. With a vast catalog of beloved songs at the ready, fans expect a different set list at each performance and, while her voice and physical energy have understandably waned with time, the wistful nostalgia and communal energy have kept her a mainstay on the touring circuit for decades. This time around, she is joined by bassist Jon Evans and a new "creature who hits things" in drummer Ash Soan, recapturing a bit of the thrill of the late-90s Plugged tour, when she first introduced a rhythm section and expanded jams that transformed her hard-hitting confessionals into exciting new creations. Those jams appear here in extended versions such as "Ocean to Ocean," "Pandoras Aquarium," and an excellent "Spring Haze." A number of B-sides make their way into the set as well -- "Daisy Dead Petals," "Ruby Through the Looking-Glass," and "Sister Janet" -- offering some of the albums standout moments. Indeed, on paper, this is a dream set list (even if it was cobbled together from various stops along the tour and not from one single show). For listeners interested in revisiting this precise tour, Diving Deep Live serves as an apt document of the time. However, for those in search of better examples of Amos live power, disc two of To Venus and Back and her Legs and Boots compilation series are more rewarding places to start. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
