On his first few albums, Celly Cel often came off as a G-funk journeyman, fully informed of what he spoke but relaying it in cliched terms heard elsewhere and done better by others. However, each of his records Heat 4 Yo Azz, Killa Kali, and G Filez had hits among the misses, and this best-of does a fine job of collecting those moments. "Heat 4 Yo Azz," from the album of the same name, is worth the price of admission alone, as is his classic remix of "It's Goin' Down" featuring B-Legit, Mack 10, and Rappin' 4-Tay. ~ Wade Kergan
