After nearly a year without a hit, The Turtles struck big with "Happy Together", a song they'd been keeping in reserve for just such an eventuality. This uniformly engaging set of folk-rock pop songs was assembled to capitalise on that success.
The authors of the title song, Gary Bonner and Alan Gordon, were also responsible for another four in this collection (two of which are bonus tracks added to the original 11-track album). "Like the Seasons", penned by a young Warren Zevon, is a regal number featuring Howard Kaylan's vocal set against acoustic guitar and strings in a mood which evokes The Beatles' "Yesterday", while among the handful of songs written by band members is the humorously mock-operatic "Rugs of Woods and Flowers".|
