Boston's proto-punks the Real Kids held one of their periodic reunions in 2000 to celebrate the band's 25th anniversary; this four-song EP was released as a teaser for a full-length album. The first two songs, interestingly, are re-recordings of "Down To You" and "Make It Go Away," the group's 1976 debut seven-inch on Red Star Records. The other two songs are new originals by leader John Felice. All four continue the Real Kids' allegiance to three-chord pop-punk, like a combination of early Ramones (for whom Felice was once a roadie) and mid-period Flamin Groovies. Good stuff, and it's nice to have them back.
