Like the albums that would follow in its wake, UNITY is a potent combination of straight-up hip-hop and Jamaican dancehall and reggae. Shinehead can also be identified by his positive social messages (a relatively anomalous quality in contemporary hip-hop), as exemplified in tracks like "Gimme No Crack" and the title cut.
