20年の歳月を要して〈Hyperdub〉がジャングル・アルバムをリリース!新たなジャングルの波を担う2人の大物Tim ReaperとKlokeによるコラボ作品!

2024年の春に伊豆で行われた野外フェスティバル、Rainbow Disco Clubに出演し、革新的なジャングルで観客を熱狂の渦に巻き込んだ、ロンドン出身のTim Reaper。そして、Reaperとのコラボレーションで勢いに乗っているメルボルン出身のKloke。この新たなジャングルの波を担う2人の大物たちが、アルバム『In Full Effect』を〈Hyperdub〉からリリース!
Reaperはここ数年、自身のレーベル〈Future Retro〉から、レコードを次々とリリースしていたが、それらは、1993年から95年頃に海賊ラジオなどで流れていたジャングルを進化させた、斬新かつ、その全盛期を喚起させるものばかりだった。今回〈Hyperdub〉からリリースされる『In Full Effect』も、そのタイトル通り、エネルギッシュでエキサイティング、そして超絶楽しい!
この8曲は、2人による最新コラボレーションの成果であり、次世代レイバーたちのために、あの時代のベストなアイデアを精密に調整し、ミックスしたものである。初めてこのスタイルを耳にする人は、デジャヴの瞬間を何度も覚えることだろう。

Two entire decades into its reign as one of the most forward-thinking electronic labels, Hyperdub finally released its first full-on jungle record, and Kode9 couldnt have made a better decision than to issue an album by Tim Reaper and Kloke, two of the leading figures of the genres revival. Since 2010, Southeast London-based Reaper has issued around one hundred records of astonishingly high quality and perfected his skills as a DJ, while any release on his Future Retro London label is a must-hear for junglists. At this point, hes well on his way to a legacy comparable to pioneers like LTJ Bukem or J Majik. Australian producer Kloke started out making dubstep and house, but his switch to jungle around 2018 has proven to be equally essential, and earlier in 2024, he released the first Future Retro London full-length, the incredible On Rhythm. In Full Effect finds both producers working at their unusually high standards -- its eight tracks seemingly could have appeared on nearly any of the artists EP releases. Opener "Continuities" displays their expertise at establishing a swirling, slightly melancholic atmosphere and matching the emotional intensity with hard-hitting breakbeats. "Blood Pressure" is much more punchy and playful, while "Juice" melds darkside breaks with rave pianos. "Alienation" has fun twisting Reese basslines into bizarre formations, and "Impasse" is a sort of psychedelic sound bath with charging 4/4 kick drums. "Roots & Reality" nails the sound of classic ragga-jungle, and "Havoc" dips back into choppy, atmospheric breaks before the satisfyingly hard finale "Wildstyle." ~ Paul Simpson
