By the time it was released, Logics Ultra 85 was already a holy grail for his fan base. Teased all the way back in 2017 in physical releases of Everybody, this near-mythic ninth official album is a continuation of that story and also serves as a sonic bookend to his sci-fi novel of the same name, which concerns a pair of pals on a search for the habitable planet Paradise. Vibrant, exciting, and back to basics, Ultra 85 (the album) is a blessing to fans willing to dig into the lore, and could even be an accessible entry point for casual listeners digging into his entertaining wordplay, underrated flow, and old-school production. Cut with dialog from those space-faring friends, Quentin and Kai, its a multimedia experience that doubles as one of the stronger, more mature efforts in his catalog. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
