ピアノのヤン・ヴォイテック、ヴァイオリンのマトウシュ・ピェルシュカ、チェロのクリスティナ・ヴォチェトコヴァーによるピアノ三重奏団「トリオ・ボヘーモ」がスメタナとシューベルトの第2番を録音しました。

スメタナのピアノ三重奏曲 ト短調は、スメタナの幼い愛娘の死を悼み書かれた作品。感情を揺さぶる旋律はロマン派の最も重要な室内楽作品のひとつといえます。カップリングはシューベルトのピアノ三重奏曲第2番 変ホ長調。同曲の終楽章は出版時にカットした版も出されましたが、当録音は原典版で演奏しております。

2019年結成の同団は2021年に開催されたヨハネス・ブラームス国際コンクールで優勝ならびに聴衆賞を受賞。深い音楽性が高く評価されており、この度SupraphonレーベルよりデビューCDをリリースしました。今後の活躍も注目です。

The dark cast of Smetanas Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15, is attributed to the death of the composers four-year-old daughter shortly before it was written. This is one of those factoids that show up in program notes and the like, but the young Trio Bohemo gives the sentiment full voice in this remarkable performance of the piece. There is no shortage of recordings of this work nor of Schuberts Piano Trio in E flat major, D. 929, that joins it on the program (although the pairing is somewhat unusual). However, the Smetana, especially, is an extraordinary standout, right from the highly operatic treatment of the opening material from cellist Kristina Vocetkova. The second subject in this movement and the slow movement, as a whole, are both extremely expressive, but perhaps most distinctive is the finale: tumultuous rather than assertive, pivoting on mysterious low piano notes to its second subject, offering an oasis of calm amidst stress. The Schubert Trio is closer to the norm for this work. It has a somewhat restless quality in the opening movement, but here, the Trio Bohemo shows that it is capable of straight lyricism as well. The Smetana trio is the real news here, though; it is a reading that absolutely demands attention and may indeed emerge as a classic.
