Kobialka's "unwound sound" has developed beautifully over the years, causing a quiet sensation with each release of his own unique brand of classically inspired space music. With violin as the lead instrument and employing considerable use of synthesizer, his stretched out, vibrato-laden style has won him much acclaim and a large following of fans. As second principal violinist for The San Francisco Symphony, Kobialka's classical roots and training are impeccable, and each release takes as its focus one or more famous pieces from composers such as Pachelbel, Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Ravel, Dvorak, along with American folk tunes and a couple of spacey original pieces. This latest effort builds upon the familiar refrains of Bach's "Awakenings" and Brahms "Lullaby of the Ages," setting the scene for another healthy dose of his special charm. "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" inspires fantasy moods, free of tension and haste amidst the daily routine, and serves as a reminder of a bigger picture that transcends the traffic-jammed commuting pictured on the cover. If you have a yen for classical style and will gladly accept non-purist forms, then Kobialka's happy hybrids will indeed find a keen resting place amongst your own musical treasures. ~ Backroads Music/Heartbeats
