名門ギルドホール音楽演劇学校で出会ったというブラック・カントリー・ニュー・ロードのメンバーでもあるジョージア・エラリーとテイラー・スカイからなるロンドン拠点のオルタナティブ・ポップ・デュオ、ジョックストラップがマーキュリー賞にノミネートしたデビュー作『I LOVE YOU JENNIFER B』のリミックス・アルバム『I＜3UQTINVU』を〈Rough Trade〉からリリース。
本作のリミックスは全編にわたってメンバーのテイラー自身が手がけている。このリミックス・アルバムは、『I Love You Jennifer B』の作曲中もインスピレーションを維持するために、アルバム原曲の別ヴァージョンをいくつも作っていたスカイのアイディアから生まれたものであり、本作の参加アーティストは、何年も前にスカイに音楽制作を勧めたアーサッツ(Ersatz)から、スカイが数ヶ月前にネットを介して知り合ったばかりのイアン・スターまで多岐に渡る。
今回のリリースはLPのみとなり、通常ブラック・ヴァイナルと、香水の香り付きスリーヴに入った限定レッド・ヴァイナルで発売される。

London-based experimental pop duo Jockstraps 2022 debut full-length, I Love You Jennifer B, was one of the years most interesting slices of songwriting and production, approaching vibrant tunes with rule-breaking ideas that recalibrated electronic indie rock into something bright and wild. The music was so boundless, it seemed almost predestined for continued exploration via remix, and thats exactly what Jockstrap member Taylor Skye gets into on I<3UQTINVU, a full-on remix album of the already exhilarating I Love You Jennifer B. That album was a lovingly mutilated mishmash of genres and production approaches, and I<3UQTINVU (shorthand for "I Love You Cutie, I Envy You") deconstructs the songs into even finer subatomic particles. Skye reportedly created these remixes quickly, and theres a franticness to the rough cuts and imprecise glitches that live in every corner of the project. Tracks like "I Touch" and "I Feel" chop and screw the vocal and harp stems from luxurious Jennifer B tracks "Glasgow" and "Angst," contorting the Disney dreaminess of the originals into nervous, rigid electro. "Good Girl" reworks "Jennifer B" into a sumptuous and hypnotic house track that bears little resemblance to the source material but still bangs joyously away. Skye uses these remixes as a means of pushing the songs even further, going to extremes on "Red Eye," a complete obliteration of the comparatively mellow track "Neon" made unruly and devilish with a seething, Auto-Tuned rap performance by IAN STARR and a drumnbass tempo speed-up. Cohesion and comprehension are left on the cutting room floor of I<3UQTINVU, but these untamed reimaginings of the songs extend the albums fun and curiosity. ~ Fred Thomas
