1978年にリリースされたデビュー作『STATELESS』を皮切りに1982年にスティッフ・レコードからリリースされた最後のアルバム『NO MAN'S LAND』まで、奇抜なルックスとエキセントリックなキャラクター性、そしてそれに見合う音楽性を兼ね備えたLENE LOVICHの魅力がタップリと詰め込まれています。B面、初期ヴァージョン、12インチ・ヴァージョンを含む全81曲、その内20曲以上がCD初収録となります。

Toy Box: The Stiff Years 1978-1983 offers expanded versions of all the albums Lene Lovich released for Stiff Records during her five years at the label. Her debut Stateless is available in both its original mix and the 1979 remix that happened after "Lucky Number" leaped into the U.K. Top Ten. Flex and No Mans Land are both here, including various stray tracks appearing in the United States, single variations, remixes, and the mini-LP New Toy; live performances are scattered among the Stateless discs but are especially concentrated on the remix. Lovich can be a particularly pungent spice, so Toy Box can be better savored a disc at a time instead of in a concentrated binge, but however its heard, these Stiff recordings sound as unpredictable, inventive, and weird as they did at the height of new wave. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
