Nearly 17 years after the Gangsta Grillz series provided Yo Gotti with a platform for only his third mixtape, the Memphis rapper reconnects with DJ Drama for I Showed U So. While the tape bears Dramas name, and Drama is present throughout, its more significant that I Showed U So was executive produced by Yung Dee, a teenaged Collective Music Group signee who was behind 42 Duggs gold-certified "Maybach," among other noteworthy tracks. Dee chose the beats and also co-produced some of them, favoring rhythms that are wound tight and lean on accoutrements. Gotti consequently sounds looser than usual -- more than willing to challenge expectations with nothing to lose.
