商品の紹介

When you think of Detroit's best techno DJs, names like Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Derrick May, and Stacey Pullen come to mind, not necessarily DJ Bone. Despite Bone's lack of global recognition, he definitely ranks alongside Detroit's best DJs, and this mix album is perhaps the best evidence. Subject: Detroit, Vol. 2 not only features a stunning track listing -- numerous Mills tracks, in particular, and several from the Underground Resistance camp -- but also remarkable mixing. Few DJs could manage many of the mixes Bone performs here; in fact, there are many moments where his mixes play like tracks in themselves, his merger of the Martian's "Fire Keeper" and Rhythim Is Rhythim's "Icon" being a perfect example as the album's standout moment. Bone also spins a number of his own tracks over the course of this album, though his production work isn't quite as accomplished as his DJing. Still, his tracks don't detract from the 28-track mix in any way, and actually function well as segues. So even if this album isn't exactly the easiest CD to find by any means, it's definitely worth seeking out if you're a Detroit techno admirer. And if you're not an admirer, this album should still impress you, assuming you can appreciate mixing skills. Besides, with such timeless tracks as "Icon" and "The Final Frontier" in the mix, you may soon find yourself admiring not only Bone's skills but Detroit techno as well. ~ Jason Birchmeier|
