Saoirse Ryan was inspired to move from Dublin to London after witnessing a revelatory Ricardo Villalobos set at Fabric which lasted late into the morning. Just a few years later, she began regularly spinning at the club, and her first commercially issued mix is a sort of full circle moment, letting her reflect on how much the club and its mix CDs have meant to her over the years. More than that, its a showcase for her smoothly flowing, hypnotic mixing style. She started off playing trance in the early 2000s, and though shes clearly preferred techno and house since her move to England, theres still a sort of levitating spaciness to her sets. Instead of playing anthemic bangers, she seems to favor tracks that stretch out and gradually progress, striking a balance between ebullient glee and cosmic trippiness. There are hints of U.K. funky and breakbeat house near the beginning of the mix, melting into the didgeridoo-like droning synths of Caims "Illusion" and the dubby minimal bounce of Jacek Sienkiewiczs "The Evidence." Things take a slightly more lysergic turn with the eerie voices, sparkling harp-like synths, and the motivated bassline of Kompos "Function." The beats kick up and the synths trickle down during Javier Carballos "Beat Investigator," and the mood expands with lush, hazy tracks by producers like Hamatsuki and Mammo. Caunos "Herzsprung 1" has dizzying Italo-house arpeggios and dreamy pianos, and it drops into Shanti Celestes "Fluffy," an exclusive track cut from the same cloth as her 2022 Hessle Audio single "Cutie." Saoirse ends the mix with her own "RM 1," a thrilling ode to Fabrics main stage which nods to early Prodigy. And then the mix just stops, as if the party has reached curfew and the power was abruptly cut, leaving everyone wanting much more. ~ Paul Simpson
