A superior veteran cabaret singer, Barbara Cook is in excellent form throughout this set of show tunes. Backed by an orchestra, Cook puts a lot of feeling and understanding into the lyrics of such songs as "All I Ask of You," "The Very Next Man," "In Buddy's Eyes," "I Wonder What Became of Me," and "We'll Be Together Again." And on "Glad Rag Doll" she shows that if she wanted to interpret older swinging standards, she would fare quite well. Her fans will enjoy this well-rounded set. ~ Scott Yanow
