ナイジェリア出身のアフロポップ・プリンスと呼ばれるRema。ドレイク、リアーナ、そしてオバマ前大統領も注目するアーティスト。
本作は2022年にデジタル配信された『Rave &Roses』のデラックス・ヴァージョンで、2023年に『Rave &Roses Ultra』というタイトルでデジタル配信された。

The landscape changes quickly over the course of Rave & Roses, the striking debut full-length from Nigerian pop force Rema. The vocalist/songwriter calls on smooth R&B, electronic textures, sunny pop hooks, light rap flows, and other styles, moving seamlessly from one notion to the next. This can take the form of sleek, melodic dance pop on acoustic guitar loop-based tracks like "Calm Down" or the meaty "Soundgasm," spare emotional expression on the Chris Brown-featuring R&B jam "Time N Affection," and even Weeknd-styled 80s synth pop throwbacks on the dazzled neon production of "Addicted." Rema doesnt settle on any specific delivery, but happily bops between styles from song to song. In addition to the already versatile palette he tackles solo, he gets into West Coast golden era G-Funk territory with special guest AJ Tracey on "FYN", and makes room for 6Lack to add a simmering Auto-Tuned hook on atmospheric trap-pop banger "Hold Me." ~ TiVo Staff

ナイジェリアはベニンシティ出身、2000年生まれの超期待株が初のフル・アルバムを投下! 最初のEPを出した2019年にすぐオバマ元大統領のプレイリストで"Iron Man"がピックアップされてUSでも熱視線を集め、以降はアルーナやバッド・ギャルとのコラボ、先日のFKAツイッグス"Jealousy"で注目した人も多いはず。そんな好機に届いた本作は、いわゆるアフロビーツにインド～アラブ音楽も取り込んで彼自身が〈アフロレイヴ〉と命名したスタイルを全編で伸びやかに展開している。客演はUSのブラックとクリス・ブラウン、UKのAJトレイシー、フランスのイズー。とりわけラヴリーな"Calm Down"をはじめ、チャントも交えたラップの小気味良さとささくれのないポップセンスが何とも爽快で楽しい。
