Caterina Barbieri has created music in many forms, from cello-heavy minimalist drone pieces to vocal-driven ambient trance, and while all of her work is unique and fascinating, shes at her best doing arpeggio-heavy deep-space progressive electronic music. 2019s Ecstatic Computation was a breakthrough release of sorts, with the devastating "Fantas" later spawning an entire album of remixes and interpretations. Myuthafoo is Ecstatic Computations sibling album. Both were conceived around the same time, and they both explore the same type of deeply entrancing, sequencer-driven compositions. The brief opener, "Memory Leak," is one of Barbieris most extreme pieces, twisting noisy, reversed roars into disorienting waves. "Math of You" and "Sufyosowirl" develop sharp arpeggios into starry clusters, with the latter piece gradually shifting its tone, ending up one of Barbieris most playful tracks. Other pieces are slower and more ambient, patiently rising to grand heights. Barbieri has an utterly mind-bending way of applying glissando to her notes, and it elevates her music further every single time she does it. ~ Paul Simpson
