Los Secretos have undergone a few reshufflings of direction and personnel since their beginnings as part of the Madrid new wave of the early '80s. En Este Mundo Raro is their first album of original material since 2006's Una y Mil Veces, and only the third with the latest incarnation of the band, now led by guitarist Alvaro Urquijo after his brother Enrique died in 1999. Produced by Carlos Narea (Nacha Pop, Miguel Rios, Antonio Vega), En Este Mundo Raro introduces 13 trademark Los Secretos songs that may not set the world on fire, but that are certain to delight the many admirers of their melancholic midtempo country-tinged numbers featuring an acoustic feel, elegant guitar lines, and lyrics about heartbreak. ~ Mariano Prunes
