Released in 2022, the first Can the Glam! compilation was an extensive primer in all things glam rock, presenting dozens of tracks from the glittery, fantastical world of glam that included platinum sellers and obscure artists alike. Teenage Glampage: Can the Glam 2 offers up a second volume using the same template: four discs and 80 songs from a wide array of bands and solo artists, digging a little deeper into the excitement of the music and showing how diverse a range of sounds the 1970s glam scene contained. Some names from the first volume return with different songs, notably important stars of the era like T. Rex (represented here with the slithering Slider track "Baby Strange"), Suzi Quatro, Angel, and the Bay City Rollers, whose song "Rock and Roll Honeymoon" is blissfully ridiculous. English glam rockers Hello return with one of their absolute best songs, the driving "Star Studded Sham." Standouts among the many artists not covered on the first volume include the ever-bombastic Wizzard, who contribute the rock & roll camp weirdness of "Ball Park Incident," Mott the Hooples dramatic and proto-metallic "Roll Away the Stone," and Brotherhood of Mans stomping anthem "Join the Party." Unlike the first volume, which spilled over into material from the 80s at times, Teenage Glampage is strictly from the vaults of the 1970s. The combination of household names and complete unknowns is again what makes this volume in the series as great as the first, with a balance of familiarity and discovery thats just as thrilling as glam rock itself. ~ Fred Thomas
