フランスを代表する俊英ヴァイオリニスト、DGデビュー・アルバム

ドイツ・グラモフォンがフランスを代表するヴァイオリニスト、ルノー・カプソンと新たなパートナーシップを開始します。まずは今年4月にフランス、エクサン・プロヴァンスのイースター音楽祭で行われたマルタ・アルゲリッチとのコンサートのライヴ録音が発売されます。収録されているのはヴァイオリンとピアノのための3つの有名な作品。シューマンのソナタ第1番、ベートーヴェンのソナタ第9番『クロイツェル』、フランクのソナタ イ長調です。このコンサートは今年4月に亡くなったばかりの、二人にとって友人であり仲間であったアメリカのピアニスト、ニコラ・アンゲリッシュに捧げられたものです。若いヴァイオリニストとすでに伝説のピアニストとして30年前に初めて出会ったカプソンとアルゲリッチは、いまや確固たるデュオとなりました。お互いを知り尽くし、二人でステージに出ていくときはいつも「不安は全くない」とカプソンは話します。「まるで手をつないでジャンプしているようだ」と。

ルノー・カプソンは1976年フランスのシャンベリ生まれ。14歳よりパリ国立高等音楽院に学び、その後ベルリンに移りトーマス・ブランディスとアイザック・スターンに師事しました。数々の賞も受賞しています。ソリストとして第一線で活躍する他、ベルリン・フィル、ボストン響を始め、多くの一流オーケストラと共演しています。カプソンはまた若い世代のアーティストたちを支援し、新しい音楽を委嘱する仕事でもすでによく知られています。2013年に自身が創設したエクサン・プロヴァンスのイースター音楽祭の音楽監督、2016年からはグシュタード冬音楽祭の音楽監督を務めています。また2021年秋にローザンヌ室内管弦楽団の芸術監督に就任しました。

It is remarkable enough that pianist Martha Argerich remains active in her ninth decade. Even better, in this performance recorded live at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in April of 2022, she is, in many passages, in the drivers seat and setting the tempo and mood. She and violinist Renaud Capucon have frequently performed together; they make an ideal chamber music pairing in which one player knows when to back off as the other takes center stage. Here, the interpretations are often Argerichs, and the unsettled moods and shifting rhythms of both the Beethoven Violin Sonata No. 9 in A minor, Op. 47 ("Kreutzer"), and the Violin Sonata No. 1 in A minor, Op. 105, of Schumann, are part of her stock-in-trade. The results are consistently absorbing, and the Schumann, in particular, must be one of the finest recordings available for this rather rarely heard work. In the Franck Violin Sonata in A major, the results are less distinctive but still hugely pleasing in the Wagnerian slow movement and the famous ultra-sentimental finale. With decent live sound from Deutsche Grammophon, this is a must for Argerich fans and a strong chamber music entry for 2022 in general. ~ James Manheim
