On Le Sserafims second EP, Antifragile, the newly minted quintet takes further steps in breaking down the walls of the typical K-pop sound. This exciting boundary-pushing is heard at the outset on "The Hydra," a big-bass electro banger that hypnotizes listeners as the members take turns delivering vocals in Japanese, Korean, and English. A reggaeton beat drops on the bouncy title track, while "Impurities" channels 90s R&B pop sultriness. The jagged riffs of the rebellious "No Celestial" inject anthemic arena rock to the mix as the girls sing, "Im no freaking angel." Even "Good Parts," an otherwise standard midtempo pop gem, is a catchy earworm that rides a repeated "Good, good" vocal loop.
