スカとパンクを融合させたサウンドで、70年代後半から80年代にかけて英国で一大ムーヴメントを巻き起こした2トーン。そのムーヴメントを創り上げ、音楽シーンのみならずファッションやカルチャーの面でも大きな影響を与えたのが〈2TONE RECORDS〉。その中でも、ザ・スペシャルズやマッドネスとともにムーヴメントの代表的存在として高い人気を誇るバンドが、ザ・セレクター。白人と黒人の混合バンド(この人種混合のメンバー構成が、2 TONESの語源とも言われている)であるのと同時に男女混合というまさに人種や性別を超えたメンバー構成、そして真っ向からスカと向き合う、ストレートで痛快なスカ・ビートと痛烈なリリックで、ムーヴメントをより鮮明なものとした存在だと言えるだろう。
そんな彼らが1980年の2TONEの傑作ファースト『Too Much Pressure』に続いて1981年に発表したセカンド・アルバム『Celebrate The Bullet』が3枚組デラックス・エディションとなって登場!
紅一点ヴォーカリスト、ポーリーン・ブラック脱退前の初期最後の作品となった本作。その魅力的なヴォーカルと性差別や人種差別、そして社会的問題に切り込んだ歌詞、やんちゃで痛快なスカ・ビートは健在。イアン・デューリー&ザ・ブロックヘッズのノーマン・ワット・レイ参加の「セレブレイト・ザ・バレット」収録。

Celebrate the Bullet failed to live up to the promise of the band's debut. It has its moments but those can all be found on the collection, Selected Selecter Selections. In 2001, Captain Oi! reissued the album with four bonus tracks. ~ Chris Woodstra
