新首席指揮者ガードナーとの2021/22シーズン幕開け公演!

ティペットが16年を費やして完成させた700ページの大規模な作品「真夏の結婚」2021年の上演の録音の登場。
LPOの2021/22シーズンの幕開けの公演で、新首席指揮者、エドワード・ガードナーとの初めての演奏会でもありました。"実に幸先のよいスタート"、"ガードナー、オーケストラ、コーラス、すべてが傑出しており、忘れがたき公演となった"などと現地でも大絶賛されました。『真夏の結婚』はティペットの初めての大作オペラで、1939年に最初に着想してから戦争などによる中断を経て完成されました。「オペラの言葉(テキスト)は、音符から離れた時点で生きられなくなるようなものであるべき」、という考えから、自分でテキストを書き上げました。夏至の一日が舞台で、マークとジェニファーという主人公が様々な困難(すべては幻影の中の出来事)を乗り越えて最後は真実の世界へと戻る、といった内容で、踊りも大きなウェイトを占めた作品となっています。そして何より繊細さとヴィルトゥオジティが要求されるオーケストラが終始活躍し、LPOの底力が見事に発揮されています。

エドワード・ガードナー(指揮)
1974年グロスター生まれ。2021年よりロンドン・フィルの首席指揮者を務める。ケンブリッジと王立音楽院で学ぶ。王立音楽院でコリン・メッターズに師事する。ハレ交響楽団の音楽監督、グラインドボーン・ツアーの音楽監督などを歴任、2015年からベルゲン・フィルの首席指揮者、2022年からはノルウェー・オペラ&バレエのアーティスティック・アドヴァイザーに就任。
