セルゲイ・ディアギレフ生誕150年記念!
バレエ・リュスのための音楽集

ロシア出身の興行師でプロデューサーのセルゲイ・ディアギレフが1909年にパリで旗揚げしたバレエ・リュス(ロシア・バレエ団)。ディアギレフが1929年に亡くなるまでの20年にわたり、バレエのみならず20世紀の芸術史に特筆大書されるほどのインパクトある活動を続けました。ディアギレフは自身が愛する神話や伝説のモチーフをバレエに採り入れるとともに、ストラヴィンスキー、ラヴェル、プロコフィエフ、ドビュッシー、サティなど気鋭作曲家たちに次々と新作を委嘱。そのようにして生まれた作品の数多くが20世紀を代表する名作として今もオーケストラのレパートリーに残っています。またディアギレフはピカソ、カンディンスキー、マティスなどの画家、フォーキン、ニジンスキー、バランシンなどの振付家、ココ・シャネルなどの衣装デザイナーも巻き込み、その舞台は舞踏と音楽のみならず最先端の総合芸術として常に注目され、時にスキャンダルや大論争も巻き起こしつつ、西洋音楽と舞台芸術に今に続く影響を及ぼしました。
このBOXは、ディアギレフの委嘱によって作曲されたバレエ音楽や、ニジンスキーらの発案によりバレエに使用された数々の名作をSWR CLASSIC傘下のオーケストラによる録音で収録したもの。抜群の機能性を持つドイツの放送オーケストラらしい、切れ味の良いサウンドが聞きものです。
