New age composer Stephen Halpern has been at the forefront of healing-based music since the mid-'70s when he released his debut, Chakra Suite. Over the years, his many recordings have been used for relaxation, therapy, meditation, yoga, and a variety of other uses. A part of his Subliminal Affirmations Series, Self-Healing 2.0 is a set of mostly keyboard-oriented instrumental pieces intended to boost the body and spirit by way of relaxing musical tones and positive affirmations that are spoken onto each track, but mixed so low as to be inaudible. Whether or not the spoken inspirational messages are actually there is a mystery and must to taken as a leap of faith, but the dreamy synth tones blended with electric piano, acoustic piano, flute, and harp are downright mystical. Use it for healing your body, mind, and spirit or for taking an extremely pleasant nap in the passenger seat of your car. ~ Timothy Monger
