SLAVES TO SOCIETY marks the return of one of death metal's most underappreciated acts. Slugging it out in the metal underground for over 20 years, Master made brutally pure metal built on weight, speed, and blistering chops; while vocalist Paul Speckmann's ferocious throated vocals rose above the chaos and established a template for future death metal frontmen. Master sounds as vicious as ever on this 2007 full-length, as songs such as "Beaten for the Possibility," "The Darkest Age," and "World Police" explode with precision savagery. Metal has become even more extreme in the years since Master first spread its mayhem, yet few would have realized the music's most chilling possibilities had Master not shown the way.
