It's Almost Dry

With fourth solo album Its Almost Dry, Pusha T does what he does best -- deliver larger than life storytelling rhymes about drug dealing and street struggles -- only bigger, better, and more polished to perfection than before. Produced in full by Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, the beats, sampling style, and arrangement choices of the producers become as elemental to the listening experience as Pusha Ts razor-sharp bars. Upgrading significantly from 2018s brief and scattered-feeling Daytona, Its Almost Dry finds Pusha T in the role of the cool, collected, bulletproof rapper, and Kanye-produced tracks like "Dreamin of the Past" and "Rock N Roll" (both of which he contributes verses to as a featured artist) harken back to his distinctive and sample-heavy style pre-My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, reshaping other artists tunes into his own snarling creations. Williams knack for spacious but compelling instrumentals make for other highlights, such as the creeping, minimal "Scrape It Off" featuring Lil Uzi Vert and Don Toliver, and the simmering, synth-heavy "Neck & Wrist," which features front and center vocal cameos from JAY-Z and Williams himself. ~ TiVo Staff
