クラリネット奏者のイブ・ハウスマンは、エヴァルト・コッホとメナヘム・プレスラーに師事し、ジェルジュ・クルターグの影響を強く受けています。20歳でライプツィヒ放送交響楽団の首席クラリネット奏者、22歳でベルリン国立歌劇場の首席クラリネット奏者になりました。ソリストとして演奏する一方で、ジャズ・ピアニストのミヒャエル・ヴォルニーと共演するなど、様々なジャンルで活躍しています。
アマティス・トリオ(アマティス三重奏団)は、ドイツのヴァイオリニスト レア・ハウスマン、イギリスのチェリスト サミュエル・シェパード、オランダ/中国のピアニスト メンジー・ハンによって2014年にアムステルダムで結成。2016-2018のBBCの新世代アーティスト、2018/2019のECHO(ヨーロッパ・コンサート・ホール機構)のライジング・アーティストに選ばれ、2019年夏にはBBCプロムス・デビューも果たしています。2020年にはC'Aviレーベルからデビュー・アルバム(8553477)をリリースしています。
第二次世界大戦中オリヴィエ・メシアンがドイツ軍に捕らわれ捕虜となった際に作曲した《世の終わりのための四重奏曲》。曲想についてメシアンは『ヨハネの黙示録』に基づくものだと自ら語っており、天地創造の6日の後の7日目の安息日が延長し不変の平穏な8日目が訪れるということが由来となって、8楽章から成っています。

This recording of Olivier Messiaens Quatuor pour la fin du temps was made in 2018 but not released until the spring of 2022. Even if there were pandemic-related issues, one can only marvel at the delay. The recording is superb, and anyone who paid attention to it would likely have been motivated to get it into listeners hands (or onto hard drives) as soon as possible. The Amatis Trio has gained plenty of attention as an up-and-coming chamber group, and here, joined by clarinetist Ib Hausmann, the trio cements its reputation by taking on the Quatuor pour la fin du temps, a work that is genuinely difficult, both technically and interpretively. It is not just the long lines that have to be maintained through periods of slow-moving, almost static music. It is that the performance captures the mixture of rigor and religious mysticism in Messiaens quartet, the feeling of floating waves that has to be somehow added to the structures. Consider Hausmanns work in the treacherous solo clarinet movement, "Abime des oiseaxu." There is a remarkable kind of warmth here that is as compelling as it is rare, and Germanys Sudwestfunk Radio from its studio in Kaiserslautern reproduces it in full.
