ペネ・パティ～オペラ・アリア集

2015年にクマムシ公認のもと「あったかいんだからぁ♪」を歌った兄弟ヴォーカルトリオ《ソレ・ミオ》のお兄ちゃん、そして2015年ドミンゴ・コンクールで優勝以来、本格的オペラ歌手として活躍している《ペネ・パティ》が、ワーナークラシックスと専属契約デビュー・アルバム!

ペネ・パティは、南半球サモア出身。幼少期にニュージーランドに移住し、本格的な音楽教育をうけたのちに、弟のテノール歌手アミタイ・パティと従兄弟のバリトン歌手モゼス・マッケイの3人でヴォーカル・グループ、ソレ・ミオ(SOL3 MIO)を結成。大きな身体から響き渡る圧倒的な声量、完璧なハーモニー、そしてユニークなキャラクターが話題となり、ニュージーランドでは9週連続チャート1位を記録しました。日本でもクマムシ公認のもと「あったかいんだからぁ♪」を歌い話題となりました。

2015年に、有望な若手オペラ歌手育成のためプラシド・ドミンゴによって1993年に設立された、18～32歳の若手オペラ歌手を対象にした世界的な権威を有するコンクールである、プラシド・ドミンゴ世界オペラ・コンクール「Operalia」において第2位、さらにオーディエンス賞を受賞。
その後、2017年サンフランシスコ・オペラでの、「リゴレット」のマントヴァ公爵役としてオペラ・デビューを果たし、2019年にボルドーでの「アンナ・ボレナ」に出演し、ヨーロッパでデビュー。情熱的な声を持つ彼は、聴衆から絶賛を浴び、世界のテノールランクを急速に引き上げました。「彼の寛大な声、明らかに無敵の力のトップノート、そして魅力的な音色のために驚くべき啓示…」(フォーラムオペラ)、「彼のキラリと光る官能的な音の流れ」(サンフランシス・コクロニクル)と高い評価を得ました。また2021年10月パリでの「愛の妙薬」でも絶賛されました。

ワーナークラシックでのデビュー・アルバムでは、ヴェルディ、ロッシーニ、ドニゼッティ、マイアベーア、グノー、バンジャマン・ゴダールらの作曲によるプログラムで、お気に入りの傑作アリアと珍しいオペラを組み合わせています。『アルバムがリスナーに「暖かさ、優しさ、そしてストーリーテリング(相手に伝えたい思いやコンセプトなどを、それを想起させること)の誠実さの感覚を残すことを望んでいます」と、ペネ・パティは語っています。

It was more than the novelty of a Samoan tenor that propelled Pene Pati onto the best-seller charts in 2022. U.S. reviewers have raved about the young singer, generating a good deal of advance buzz, and his voice has been developing consistently. His is not a glass-shattering voice, but his virtues lie elsewhere; in tunes, especially quiet ones, he leaves the listener entranced. He seems to have a special flair for the French repertory, which depends heavily on these. In the big high notes as well, the French language somehow seems to give his voice freer rein. In the Rigoletto excerpts, the biggest hits here, he is adequate but unspectacular, but this brings to mind the other virtue here; Pati does not do the usual debut album filled with operatic favorites. On both the Italian side (Verdis La battaglia di Legnano, Rossinis Moise et Pharaon and Guillaume Tell, the latter two of which are French operas) and the French (Gounods Polyeucte, Benjamin Godards Jocelyn of 1888) he picks items that range from novel to rare. Some will want this album to fill holes on a shelf or hard drive, but what is more important is that it shows a singer already in control of his career who can pick music that exhibits his strengths. The accompaniment from the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine under Emmanuel Villaume is solid, and this is every bit the attention-getting debut it has been cracked up to be.
