ジミー・ウェッブやローラ・ニーロ、ニール・セダカらのソウルフルな楽曲をポップなスタイルで聞かせ、20曲ものトップ40ヒットを放つなど一世を風靡した、60年代後半のカリフォルニアを代表する男女混成コーラス・グループ=フィフス・ディメンション。
本作は1972年に発売されたグレイテスト・ヒッツ・アルバム『Greatest Hits On Earth 』。全米7位となった「ビートでジャンプ(原題:Up, Up and Away)」、「ウェディング・ブルース」(全米1位)、「ワン・レス・ベル・トゥ・アンサー」(全米2位)、「ストーンド・ソウル・ピクニック」などのヒット曲を収録。

Until Rhino issued its anthology, this was the best hits package for the 5th Dimension, a group that in its peak was among the best at doing lighthearted pop with a soulful foundation. Certainly, they weren't a hardcore R&B or earthy singing group, but they did put some punch into songs that were really kind of silly otherwise, like "Wedding Bell Blues." ~ Ron Wynn
