スイス出身のハープ界の新星、DGデビュー・アルバム

ハープ界の新星マグダレーナ・ホフマンによるドイツ・グラモフォンからのデビュー・アルバム。ヴィルトゥオーソ・ハープ奏者が夜の深い不思議な世界に聴き手を誘います。
スイスのバーゼルで生まれたマグダレーナ・ホフマンは6歳でハープのレッスンを始め、デュッセルドルフのロベルト・シューマン音楽大学、ロンドンの王立音楽アカデミーで学び、ミュンヘン音楽大学から修士の学位を得ました。2014年にチロル交響楽団の首席ハープ奏者に任命され、2016年ソロのアーティストとしてミュンヘンARD音楽コンクールで2つの特別賞を受賞しました。その2年後、バイエルン放送交響楽団の首席ハープ奏者となりました。
アルバムにはブリテンの『ハープのための組曲』、フィールド、ショパン、クララ・シューマンの美しい夜想曲、レスピーギ、ピツェッティ、ハーシュによる小品の傑作が収録されています。

This 2022 Deutsche Grammophon release is the debut of Magdalena Hoffmann, principal harpist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Its been quite a commercial success, which may be due to a lack of recent virtuoso harp albums, to a desire for music in an entirely nostalgic genre in the midst of dire headlines and pandemic fatigue, to Hoffmanns considerable charisma, or even to Deutsche Grammophons unusually strong engineering, which lends the harp a brilliant yet intimate quality. More than these factors, though, it comes down to the fundamentals. Hoffmann is a tremendous talent, with absolute clarity in registers from bottom to top. Even better, she packs a great deal of variety into the seemingly commonplace nocturnal theme. Her program is balanced between harp originals and transcriptions of music by Chopin, John Field, Respighi, Clara Schumann, Ildebrando Pizzetti, and jazz pianist Fred Hersch. The variety of that list suggests that of the moods in the program, which range from the dryly elegant in Brittens late Suite for harp, Op. 83, to over-the-top display in the Fantaisie pour harp sur des motifs des Contes dHoffmann of Jean-Michel Damase, to the inward lyricism of Chopin, which would be hard to find in traditional harp repertory. Its a strong recital, well put together, and flawlessly executed.
