Money Mans first release since Epidemic and State of Emergency, two COVID-19-referencing mixtapes that appeared during the first quarter of 2020, Atlanta rapper Money Man returned in November of 2021 with the cryptocurrency-inspired Blockchain. He became the first artist to receive an advance payment entirely in Bitcoin, and he launched an NFT collection of the albums promotional trailer. Musically, the album is in line with Money Mans other offerings, as he delivers jargon-laced lyrics about his entrepreneurial hustle and the jealousy of those who previously supported him as he was coming up. The production typically consists of icy trap beats that match the rappers unwavering delivery, although atmospheric guitars provide warmth on several tracks, and the intriguing violin sample used throughout "Tip Off" provides a sense of mystery. Moneybagg Yo, Yung Bleu, and Jackboy all appear on one track each. Blockchain reached number 13, Money Mans highest showing on the Billboard 200 to date. ~ Paul Simpson
