日本では吹奏楽作品がよく知られているヴィンセント・パーシケッティ。しかし彼は9曲の交響曲をはじめ、協奏曲やチェンバロ・ソナタなどさまざまな曲を書いており、そのどれもが独自の音楽語法を持つ充実した作品として仕上がっています。このアルバムに収録されたオルガン作品も、20世紀のレパートリーで重要な位置を占めており、伝統を踏まえながらも現代的な響きに彩られたユニークな音楽を形成しています。瞑想的な「ドライデン典礼組曲」、1950年代に書かれた聖歌と応唱集は宗教的な作品。そして、アルバムの中で最も有名な「オーデン・ヴァリエーション」は1977年作曲で複雑な対位法を用いた壮麗な作品です。「オルガン・ソナタ」は古典的な3楽章形式ですが、調性感は希薄であり、冒険的な作風が感じられます。
