この40周年記念12インチ・カラーEPには、オリジナルのスタジオ・ヴァージョンはもちろん、1990、2000、2010という3つの年代にプレイされたライヴ・ヴァージョンを収録。
A2:U2のホームタウン=アイルランド/ダブリンで開催されたニュー・イヤーズ・ライヴでの収録。チケットには1989/12/31と記載されているが、U2の演奏は1990/1/1の深夜からスタートした。

Gloria was the second single from U2's 1981 album October. The song, with the inclusion of the Latin phrases "In te domine" and "exultate," was one of the first U2 songs to have both carnal and spiritual interpretations. "Gloria" did not receive much mainstream airplay in the U.S., but college radio embraced it, though overall sales for the LP were lackluster. U2 began to outgrow the club scene and was soon playing in larger theatres. War would be the band's first large breakthrough, but "Gloria" would remain a popular, but lesser-known, anthem. A live version of "Gloria" recorded at Red Rocks in June of 1983 opened Under a Blood Red Sky. Gloria was released twice on 7" vinyl in Holland. One version was identical to the Ireland/U.K./Australia 7", but another contained the title track and the studio version of "I Will Follow." Both Holland versions have the same cover art, but it is different from the others released and so would be of interest only to the completist collector. ~ JT Griffith
