最初のアルバム「Chieftains 1」から最新のスタジオ・アルバム「Voice of Ages」まで、尊敬を集めるバンドのディスコグラフィー全体から主要な楽曲を収録した、素晴らしいキャリア回顧録。

ザ・ローリング・ストーンズ、パウロ・ヌティーニ、ダイアナ・クラール、アリソン・クラウス、ヴァン・モリソン、シネイド・オコナーとのコラボレーションも収録。

さらに「Live at The Royal Albert Hall」、「Live at The Cambridge Folk Festival」などの未発表音源や、BBCやRTEのアーカイブからの未発表音源も収録!

1962年にアイルランドで活動を開始した文化大使、ザ・チーフタンズ。創設者でありリーダーのパディ・モロニー(ウイリアン・パイプ、ティン・ホイッスル)、マット・モロイ(フルート)、ケヴィン・コンネフ(ボダラン、ボーカル)の3人は、60年という驚異的なキャリアの中で、グラミー賞6回、アカデミー賞1回を受賞し、伝統的なアイルランド音楽を世界に広めまた。伝統と現代を融合させた音楽の境界を越える能力により、彼らは今日まで最も有名で尊敬される音楽グループの一つとして国際的に称賛されてきた。
2010年には、パディ・モロニーのホイッスルとマット・モロイのフルートがNASAの宇宙飛行士キャディ・コールマンと一緒に国際宇宙ステーションに行き、ISSでNASAの宇宙飛行士とデュエットした最初のバンドになるなど、彼らの実験的なコラボレーションはこの世のものとは思えないほどの広がりを見せている。
