現代中国を代表する作曲家、イェ・シャオガン。この『共和国への道』は1911年の辛亥革命から100年を記念して書かれたカンタータです。近代革命先行者として称えられる孫文を主人公とした、古典的な詩と現代的な詩が用いられた歴史的な物語を彩るのはさまざまな中国民謡で、モダンな響きと融合した耳なじみのよい旋律は聴き手の心をつかみます。広東組曲も広東州に伝えられる民謡がふんだんに使われた美しい作品ですが、こちらはドイツのラインラント=プファルツ州立フィルハーモニー管弦楽団による演奏です。
