Larry Junes supply of mixtapes, albums, and EPs seemed unlimited during 2019 and 2020, a period during which he was behind no less than a dozen titles. And then, in 2021, he was quiet for five months -- enabling listeners to play catch-up -- with the full-length Orange Print offered that June. While none of the rappers 2019-2020 releases was disposable, this set is either compelling or diverting with greater frequency. The San Franciscans cool, almost cold-blooded boasts and reflections are still most affecting over liquid synthesizer funk, but theyre also perfectly suited for the smeared break furnished by Jake One for highlight Tangible Assets, and are no less inspired on Mr. Rogers bump-and-coast groove laid out for Grand Nash Chronicles. ~ Andy Kellman
