Pitchfork、NMEも絶賛、今最も期待されるプロデューサー、インディア・ジョーダンが最新EP『Watch Out!』を〈Ninja Tune〉よりリリース!!

ロンドンを拠点に活動するDJ/プロデューサーのインディア・ジョーダン。
昨年リリースしたEP『For You』 に収録された表題曲はResident Advisorの年間ベストトラックで第1位、Crack Magazineの第2位、PitchforkでもTop25にランクイン、そしてNMEでは満点レビューを獲得するなど、最大限の注目を集めた。
ノンバイナリーのアーティストとしても知られ、今最も期待されるプロデューサーのジョーダンが、〈Ninja Tune〉より最新EP『Watch Out!』を12インチでリリース!
ジョーダンのこれまでの楽曲の多くは移動中に制作されており、今回のEPの1曲目「Only Said Enough」もイギリスの都市、ハルに向かう列車の中で制作された。
先行トラック「And Groove」は最初のロックダウンの際に制作されたもので、反復されるリズミカルなトラックがグルーヴを生み出している。
また、収録曲「Feierabend」はジョーダンの言葉を借りれば「仕事が終わった時の喜びを表現している」とのことで、このEP全体を通して電車での移動や通勤に結びつけられた内容となっている。

India Jordans self-dedicated 2020 EP For You was a personal breakthrough as well as an artistic one, earning across-the-board acclaim for its giddy yet introspective channeling of influences such as French house, rave, and drumnbass. Watch Out!, the producers first Ninja Tune release, works in a similar mode, providing high-impact club anthems which span a variety of styles, and taking inspiration from transit and movement, from crossing intersections to cross-country train journeys. Only Said Enough opens the EP with huge, walloping breakbeats and diva wails, fiercely setting everything off. Watch Out! mixes tough hardcore breaks and rave sirens with uplifting pianos and lush, atmospheric melodies, keeping you on your toes while shielding you from danger. You Cant Expect the Cars to Stop if You Havent Pressed the Button is more straightforward, charging, and minimal, bounding along in forward motion, with sampled recordings from intersections adding to the tracks restless feel. The Elysian Feierabend stretches loops that may or may not be strings, Mellotron, and vocals out over five minutes of a relentless pounding kick drum. And Groove feels simpler and more relaxed, revisiting the more French touch-inspired sound of For Yous first two tracks, looping its sample about a perpetual groove over mellow chords reminiscent of classic deep house, but with at least a slight dusting of adrenaline keeping the energy level charged up. The EP seems to celebrate the joy of simply being alive and active, and maintaining a constant drive no matter what. ~ Paul Simpson
