ライヴ感あふれるフーガの技法!

アストン・マグナは、アメリカを拠点としている古楽アンサンブルのひとつです。30年近くダニエル・ステップナーが芸術監督を務めており、1589年から1850年代の作品を指揮してきました。アストン・マグナ以外の活動では、ボストン美術館トリオの創設メンバーであったり、18世紀オーケストラのアシスタント・コンサートマスターを6年間務めるなど古楽に精通したアーティストです。このアルバムでは、アストン・マグナのメンバーを率いてライヴならではのスリリングな演奏を聞かせています。
編成は、ヴァイオリン、ヴィオラ、チェロ、ヴィオラ・ダ・ガンバ、ハープシコード、フルート、オーボエ&オーボエ・ダ・カッチャ、ファゴット(すべて古楽器使用)。
