Castle U.K.'s Shoot 'Em Up: The Best of the Deele trumps all previous attempts at anthologizing the R&B group led by Babyface and L.A. Reid with an extensive track selection and remastered sound. This covers all the essential singles, including hot R&B/singles-chart occupants like "Two Occasions" (number four), "Body Talk" (number three), "Shoot 'Em Up Movies" (number ten), "Material Thangz" (number 14), "Can U Dance" (number 48), and "Suspicious" (number 66). All the synthesizers and programmed beats are no more of their time than the elements that characterize any other period or movement, so it'd be completely unfair to fault this group for sounding like they came from the '80s. Admittedly, each Deele album has a good chunk of filler, so a compilation like this one is a good way to go. ~ Andy Kellman
