A collection of highlights from the groups 40th Anniversary tour, a shindig that happened in America and Europe throughout 2019 as they supported their reunion album 40, Rocked This Town: From LA to London showcases a bunch of old cats who still get a kick from playing the old tunes in an old-fashioned way. Save for a little wear and tear on Brian Setzers voice -- when the album kicks off with Cat Fight (Over a Dog Like Me), hes operating at a gravelly rumble -- the Stray Cats dont precisely sound as if theyre middle-aged men, save for their taste for rock & roll made the year of their birth. Whether theyre playing their old hits, some covers (Cannonball Rag, Misirlou, which comes with a shoutout to the then-recently passed Dick Dale) or new tunes, the trio not only sound spry and engaged, but like they never took an extended hiatus. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

活動再開後初となるライヴ・アルバムで、2018年8月のカリフォルニア公演を中心に、2019年の『40』リリース前後に行った欧州/北米ツアーでのパフォーマンスを選りすぐった全23曲。若い時とは違う、少し余裕を感じさせるグルーヴの円熟味が魅力で、何より演奏を楽しんでいるのが聴き手に伝わる好盤だ。とは言いつつ、ブライアン・セッツァーの早弾きは"Double Talkin' Baby" などで大健在なのでご安心を。

ストレイキャッツのライブ音源は、バンド初期・再結成時問わず数多くリリースされており、そのいずれも誰もがノリノリになってしまうミラクルなバンドなんですが、本盤はそんな中でも白眉といえる作品です！

キャリアを通算しての良選曲、この時期ならではのアレンジ、三匹の迷い猫の圧倒的なグルーヴ、音響のバランス、、、どれをとってもサイコーです！グラミー受賞と言える作品です！！
