The very name of the Texas Gentlemen suggests a group who mind their manners as they peddle a blend of blues, country, and rock & roll -- the music most associated with the land south of the Red River. To be sure, this modern-day collective of hotshots are versed in such traditional sounds, but Floor It!! proves the Texas Gentlemen are by no means beholden to the rules of Americana. Careening from instrumental funk workouts to smooth soul grooves, stopping to soak in the spacy vibes of Pink Floyd and the pure pop hooks of 70s AOR, Floor It!! doesnt follow a straight path but thats its charm. Its an album recorded by a bunch of proudly clever musicians for an audience whose taste is every bit as omnivorous as the bands.
