RXM Realitys 2019 tape Devil World Wide was a calamitous pile-up of IDM, techno, and footwork that sculpted nearly danceable rhythms out of post-apocalyptic wreckage. As overwhelming and astonishing as the release was, Chicagoan audio obliterator Mike Meegan managed to top himself with the monumental follow-up Blood Blood Blood Blood. Throughout the albums 15 fragmentary tracks, explosive beats are constantly bludgeoned into the ground and dragged by heavy machines, erupting with a shower of sparks. Slivers of trapped voices and smothered melodies attempt to break through (like on the nearly My Bloody Valentine-esque Tunnel of Bones), and occasionally it will shift to a slightly steadier rhythm just to distract you, but mostly its just an onslaught of obliterative firepower. My Own Skeleton Visualizer is the soundtrack to the abandonment of ones physical body and rebirth as an online avatar, and QUEEN TIKI is a trap beat programmed to self-destruct. Bringing all of this to a standstill, END MEMO feels like an epic battle between gigantic malfunctioning robots that suddenly ends in a draw. ~ Paul Simpson
