商品の紹介

収録されている『BLACK ARK IN DUB』『BLACK ARK VOL.2』の2作品が81年の発売以来長くLEE PERRY＆レゲエ・ファンの中で、その不親切・不明瞭なクレジット等で作品としての信用性が失われて続けてきたが、収められた楽曲そのものは70年代初期のLEE PERRY、〈BLACK ARK〉、レゲエの貴重＆レア音源ばかり。その魅力を改めて伝え直すべく企画された特別企画作品。

DISC 1『BLACK ARK IN DUB』はLEE PERRY制作、BLACK ARKスタジオでその専属バンドであるBLACK ARK PLAYERS演奏、LEE PERRYがMIXを実施したDUBアルバム。全10曲。1981年発売。制作は1973～74年。

DISC 2『BLACK ARK VOL.2』はBLACK ARKスタジオ制作のレア楽曲集。全曲にLEE PERRYが関与したかは不確か。1981年発売。制作は1973～74年。オリジナル8曲にLACKSLEY CASTELL「Jah Love Is Sweeter」を追加した全9曲。

A fine collection of early Perry dub packaged in what seems to be a semi-legit, bootleg way. This label seems to be tied in with the French label Lagoon, which has released the Perry-produced Bob Marley session (two CDs, both of them essential). This is a good selection; Perry remixes are typically audacious and crazy, but there's little enclosed information telling you when the tracks were cut. Lack of information is an ongoing problem with Perry releases, since his entire output defies any kind of authoritative historical treatment. Still, this is worthy of your time, even if it doesn't provide the big buzz of some of Perry's other, more far-out experiments. ~ John Dougan

リー・ペリーのBlack Ark時代のダブの中でもかゆいところに手が届いたダブがてんこ盛り。M3“LION”は、ギャザラーズ“WORDS OF MOUTH”のダブ。聴きどころ満載でした。
