サム・クックの初期ソロ・アルバム5作を収録したCDボックス。ソウル・シンガーとしての実力はもちろんのこと、ソングライターとしてのスキルも存分に発揮されたKeenにおける一連のレコーディングには、1960年代へと時代が移り変わる中、ソウル・サウンドを一段上のレヴェルに押し上げたクックの偉業が克明に刻まれている。Keenレーベルで1950年代後半から60年代初頭にかけて録音されたオリジナル・マスターは、Keen閉鎖後に行方不明になっていたが、それが近年発見されたことにより、50年以上の時を超えたこのリイシューが史上初めて実現した。ボーナス・トラック15曲を含む全75曲収録。Keenでアーカイヴされていたレアな写真や資料、膨大なセッション記録、Michael Corcoranによるライナーノーツも収録。

Disc 1 - Sam Cooke - originally released on Keen in 1958
1958年作品。初の全米No.1シングル「You Send Me」や、代表曲「Summertime (Part 2)」、「Ain't Misbehavin'」、「That Lucky Old Sun」、「Danny Boy」などを収録したモノラル・アルバム。ゴスペル・シンガーが、まだ見ぬソウル・ミュージックの雛形を生み出したポップ・アルバム。クックのリラックスした雰囲気やクリアなイントネーション、そして卓越したヴォーカル能力は、他のポップ/R&Bのシンガーと一線を画すものだった。今尚色褪せることのないクックのキャリアの夜明けを告げた作品。

Disc 2 - Encore - originally released on Keen in 1958
1958年のセカンド・アルバム。「Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive」、「When I Fall In Love」、「I Cover the Waterfront」、「The Gypsy」ほかを収録。オーケストレーションのプロデュースはBumps Blackwell。

Disc 3 - Tribute to The Lady - originally released on Keen in 1959
1959年リリースの、Billie Holidayに捧げられたサード・アルバム。モノラル録音。Billie Holidayの名曲群から選ばれた「God Bless The Child」、「I've Gotta Right To Sing The Blues」、「Good Morning, Heartache」、「Crazy She Calls Me」などをカヴァー。

Disc 4 - Hit Kit - originally released on Keen in 1959; 9 bonus tracks
1959年発表のベスト・セレクション。original mono versions of 「Only Sixteen」、「Everybody Loves to Cha Cha Cha」、「Win Your Love For Me」、「You Were Made For Me」のオリジナル・モノ・ヴァージョンを含む12曲に、レアなKeenからのシングルのレアなステレオ・ヴァージョン6曲を含む9曲のボーナス・トラックを収録。

Disc 5 - The Wonderful World Of Sam Cooke - originally released on Keen in 1960; 6 bonus tracks
1960年発表の4thアルバムにして、Keenレーベルにおける最終作。アルバム・タイトルにも引用された「(What A) Wonderful World」は、当時のKeenにスタッフとして在籍していた後のレジェンド=Lou Adler 、Herb Alpertがクックと共作した曲。「That's Heaven To Me」、「You Were Made For Me」、「Almost In Your Arms (Love Song From "Houseboat」も聴きどころ。「Steal Away」のオリジナル・ヴァージョンや、アルバム未収録の「One Hour Ahead of the Posse、「So Glamorous」、そして「gospelized」、「Deep River」などのボーナス・トラックを6曲収録。
