2019年3月、現代最も称賛され、最も演奏機会の多い作曲家の一人 トーマス・アデスがボストン交響楽団とキリル・ゲルシュタインとともに、自作のピアノと管弦楽のための協奏曲を世界初演しました。ボストン交響楽団がキリル・ゲルシュタインのために委嘱したこの作品はすでに世界的な協奏曲のレパートリーとなっています。

聴衆からも批評家からも熱狂的な反響を呼び、現代音楽への惜しみない賞賛となったこのピアノ協奏曲のライヴ録音に、アデスの2013年の作品『死の舞踏』がカップリングされました。

『死の舞踏』ではバリトンのマーク・ストーン、メッゾ・ソプラノのクリスティアーネ・ストーティンとオーケストラが共演。気味の悪い死神と行列を作る多くの犠牲者たちとの対話が繰り広げられています。
