ネッド・ローレムの主題による『14の十字架の道行き』のインプロヴィゼーション(即興)。伝説のアメリカのオルガニスト、作曲家、教師であった故マクニール・ロビンソンはその即興演奏の技術が高く評価されていました。マルセル・デュプレ、ネッド・ローレム、ルーカス・フォス、ヴィンセント・パーシケッティなど、彼と同時代の多くのすぐれた作曲家たちは定期的にロビンソンと協働し、彼の比類ない即興演奏会のために題材となるテーマを提供していました。ロビンソン自身、この2006年3月21日の『14の十字架の道行き』の即興演奏を自身最高の出来栄えとみなし、それまで築いてきたものの頂点として、また素晴らしい宗教儀式のライヴ録音として世に出ることを望んでいました。
